Legislative Calendar for July 30, 2018





This is Macon Media's attempt to cover the North Carolina General Assembly in a manner that provides the public with as much information as possible. If analysis or links to articles that engage in an analysis is posted, it will be marked as such and it should be read with the knowledge the author may have biases that influence his/her material.

The General Assembly will continue its Extra Session today and will likely override the Governor's veto of House Bill 3 [LINK] and Senate Bill 3 [LINK].



The NC Senate is scheduled to come into session at 10:00am today and the NC House at 2:00 pm. Both are expected to be able to override the veto. Both chambers are expected to adjourn until November subject to a recall by the Governor, leadership, or three-fifths of the members.

The NC Senate came into session this morning for a couple of minutes and adjourned, subject to messages of the NC House, until Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 11:00 am. Audio posted below in the interest of transparency (don't believe what Macon Media tells you happened, listen to it for yourself).



The press conference organized by Representative Darren Jackson (Wake County, Democrat, House District 39) is currently underway. Macon MEdia missed the first minute or so of the event. Audio will be posted as soon as it can be processed after the event is over. The NC House is expected to come into session at 2:00 pm.

Representative Darren Jackson (Democrat, NC House District 39) held a press conference in the press room in the state legislative building on the morning of Monday, July 30, 2018. This is the audio from about a minute or two after the press conference had started.

2:19 pm

TheNC House has come into session and read the veto from the Governor into the record and adjourned until Thursday, Agust 2nd at 11:00 am. The chair noted that the NC House and NC Senate would be taking up the Governor's Veto on Saturday, August 4th.
