COVID-19 and Weather Briefing for Saturday, April 4, 2020 Weekend Edition

Macon Media is taking a step back from in-depth weather briefings and COVID-19 updates for the weekend. A regular schedule will continue Monday. Abbreviated briefings will be posted today and Sunday and emergency updates will be posted at MaconMedia.com and social media as needed.



OUTLOOK

High pressure will build into the region today, then shift to our east on Sunday. A weak cold front will push in from the northwest by Sunday evening, stalling over the area Monday, before lifting back north as a warm front on Tuesday. A stronger cold front will cross the region on Wednesday.

BURN BAN

A ban on open burning in the 32 western counties of North Carolina is in effect until further notice. [LINK]

Partly sunny in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Highs ranging from the lower 60s to lower 70s. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 5 mph.

Tonight

Partly cloudy. Lows ranging from the upper 40s to the lower 40s. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph, shifting to come out of the east after midnight.

Sunday

Mostly sunny. Highs ranging from the lower 60s to the lower 70s. Winds out of the southwest 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night

Partly cloudy. Lows ranging from the upper 40s to the lower 40s. Winds out of the west 5 to 10 mph.

Monday

Mostly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs ranging from the mid-60s to the lower 70s. The chance of rain 40 percent.

Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. A chance of showers. Lows ranging from the mid-40s to the lower 50s. The chance of rain 40 percent.

HAZARDS

Hazardous weather is not anticipated today.

The CDC website [LINK] reports 2,093 people in North Carolina are infected and that the infections are widespread, the NCDHHS website [LINK] reports 2,093 cases, 259 hospitalized and 19 deaths in the state. The Johns Hopkins Dashboard [LINK] reports 2,336 people infected and 36 deaths.
