Weather Briefing for Sunday, February 14, 2021

OUTLOOK

A wavering frontal boundary near the Gulf and south Atlantic Coasts will provide the focus for multiple low pressure systems to form and pass through Georgia and the Carolinas well into next week. Light precipitation will continue through the weekend, without much of a winter threat, before the next low pressure systems arrive on Monday and brings heavier rainfall to the region. Brief drying will occur through mid-week before precipitation returns again on Thursday.

HAZARDS

Abundant low-level moisture has combined with light winds overnight to permit areas of fog to form over the region. The fog may become dense at times, with the visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less during the early morning hours.

If you must travel, be prepared to encounter dense fog. Use your low beam headlights and fog lamps, and allow extra travel time and stopping distance.

Air Quality

Air quality is in the lower range of yellow for most of the county, including the ridges and other higher elevations today.

Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be low (1.8 out of 12) with Juniper, Elm, and Alder being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be about the same (1.9 out of 12).
