OUTLOOK

The passage of a cold front this morning will bring drier and less cloudy weather today and Wednesday, but clouds and precipitation return for one more round Wednesday night into Friday. Cool and dry high pressure will build into the region over the weekend.

HAZARDS

Hazardous weather is not expected today.

Snow showers transitioning to sleet and freezing rain is likely Wednesday night into Thursday as a strong low pressure system approaches from the west. Enough accumulating ice will be possible by early Thursday to produce hazardous driving conditions. Ice accumulations could also bring down trees and branches, leading to power outages.

A periods of heavy rain is then possible, mainly across the mountains of North Carolina, from Thursday afternoon through early Friday morning.

Air quality is in the upper range of green for most of the county, including the ridges and other higher elevations today.

Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be low-medium (4.6 out of 12) with Juniper, Elm, and Alder being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be a little higher (5.1 out of 12).
