Spring Creek, NC, October 3, 2022 – The Appalachian Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest will be hosting two events in October relating to future plans for the Max Patch area. The first event will be an open house at Spring Creek Community Center from 5:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. The second event will be a virtual informational presentation from 7:00-8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. The Spring Creek event will provide opportunities for guests to drop by during the event to ask questions, interact with presenters at a variety of stations, and answer polls regarding future plans at Max Patch. The virtual event will begin with a presentation and include polls and a Q&A session.
These events are intended to provide an update on the progress being made with regard to visitor use management and ecological restoration at Max Patch, while also providing updates and the opportunity for public input regarding potential proposals relating to the construction of a bathroom and additional parking at Max Patch. Also, the possibility of extending the current Forest Service Closure Order at Max Patch will be discussed.
