Macon County Emergency Management Does Not Recommend Outdoor Burning Due to Excessively Dry Conditions

Extremely dry conditions have increased the danger of wildfire in Macon County. The Macon County Fire Marshal's office does not recommend outdoor burning until significant rainfall occurs in the area. If outdoor burning does occur, monitor weather conditions closely to prevent the fire from spreading, keep tools and water close by to help prevent spreading, and never leave a fire unattended. Several fires have already affected Macon County and a wildfire can pose significant threats to both lives and properties.

**note** 5:17 pm I have been in court all day, and I have not been able to listen to the scanner at MaconScan.com 

From what I have been able to determine since 5:00 pm, is that there are multiple fires burning in the region. The fire to our west may be what they are calling the "Buck Knob Fire."  It is in the same location as the fire on Buck Knob earlier this year.

These events should impress upon everyone that burning outdoors is not a wise choice at this time.
