Dry high pressure continues through mid week. A cold front sweeps across the area Wednesday evening, before an increasingly unpredictable but active pattern sets in for the weekend, potentially producing another round of winter weather.
Public Schools in Macon County are closed to students today, January 18th, 2022.

...AREAS OF BLACK ICE EXPECTED TO CAUSE TREACHEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS THIS MORNING...
Abundant sunshine in most areas allowed roads to warm and driving conditions to improve for a time Monday afternoon. However, in most areas where snow is on the ground, they remained wet from snowmelt. Tonight was considerably colder than Sunday night, and any roads that were still wet at sunset likely will freeze over. Black ice will be a significant road hazard through at least late this morning, when sunshine should again allow the ice to thaw.
Transportation agencies have advised the public to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Any motorists that do venture out are urged to use extreme caution. If a road looks wet, it likely is covered in a thin sheet of ice.

2018 – A bus catches fire on the Samara–Shymkent road in Yrgyz District, Aktobe, Kazakhstan. The fire kills 52 passengers, with three passengers and two drivers escaping.
