NC GOVERNOR
Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff in honor of Wake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ned Byrd who was killed in the line of duty overnight. Details are still emerging as the investigation continues into the incident along Battle Bridge Road in southern Wake County.
Statement from Governor Roy Cooper “We’re deeply grateful for Wake County Deputy Ned Byrd’s service to our state. Our prayers and condolences are with his friends and family,” said Governor Roy Cooper.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated.
