Connelly Creek Road Closure Slated for October 10th 

Franklin, NC, September 26, 2023— On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the Nantahala Ranger District will have a one-day road closure of Connelly Creek Road (NFSR86). There will be a 2.7-mile section of Connelly Creek Road closed between the intersection at Cowee Bald Road (NFSR70) and the intersection at Barkers Creek Road (NFSR 7062). No access will be allowed during the closure.

The road closure is necessary for engineers to conduct a geotechnical survey as part of the Alarka Watershed Restoration Project. The project is a multi-year partnership with Trout Unlimited and the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission to restore native brook trout habitat, improve road conditions, and reduce stream sediment deposits.
