The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook concerning the potential for severe weather from a line of storms that is forecast to reach Macon County after midnight tonight. According to the latest computer models, the line of storms should reach the county between midnight and 2 am, give or take a couple of hours. The main concern at the moment is lightning and high wind gusts.

A line of showers and thunderstorms may arrive across the North Carolina mountains from the northwest during the early morning hours tonight into Saturday morning. Strong, gusty winds will be the main hazard with this line of thunderstorms, but occasional cloud-to-ground lightning will be possible as well. A few locations, especially near the Tennessee border, could experience damaging wind gusts.
