US and NC Flags Lowered in Honor of US Army PFC William "Hoover" Jones
Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, June 21, in honor of US Army Private First Class William "Hoover" Jones and all those who have fought for our country overseas and never returned home. Summer Begins Today at 11:54am; First Full Day of Summer is Tomorrow
The summer solstice will occur today at 11:54am and marks the official start of summer. In astronomical terms, this means the sun will reach the highest point in the sky and days will begin to grow shorter until the Winter Solstice in December.

Outlook
