Weather Hazards

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop around the region today, mainly this afternoon and evening. Any of these thunderstorms will have the potential to produce frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds. A few of these thunderstorms could become severe, with damaging wind gusts and large hail possible. The greatest chance of severe weather will be in and near the mountains, and across the Upper Savannah River area, this afternoon.

**Note** A Tropical Weather Outlook section has been added to the daily weather briefing for the Atlantic Hurricane Season, and since those tend to run long when there is activity, that section has been added between the daily forecasts for the four regions of the county and the almanac section so people can get to their daily forecasts with minimal interference.
