Is a Constitutional Convention in our future?

I suppose one of the things they will bring up is that once a Constitutional Convention has been called, the people who are selected to attend will be above any law of the land, and the Convention can do whatever it pleases. This would be good if a solid majority were conservatives and disastrous if the progressives (or even just Democrats) had a majority.

The United States of America currently has the oldest government on the earth, and that long streak would end....along with many of our freedoms because I am sure that such a modern assemblage would invent new rights for us that would be a burden to provide.

If that were to be the case, I would have no qualms about participating in an armed rebellion against the government that emerged.
