Daily Weather Briefing for Friday, July 5, 2019

Independence Day Celebrations

Yesterday was the day we observe our Independence from Great Britain. Here is a look at how Americans observed the day via videos posted online:

Franklin, NC

Philadelphia

New York

Boston

Washington, DC (multiple videos)

Outlook

An upper-level ridge over the Southeastern part of the nation will weaken through the weekend as a broad trough sets up. This will result in slightly cooler weather and increasing chances for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Chances return to more seasonal levels by the middle of next week.

THREE DAY GFS FORECAST
This animated image shows a forecast of precipitation, air pressure and thickness level (cold-air damming) for three days in six-hour increments.
