Candidate Field set for 2019 Municipal Elections in Franklin and Highlands
The filing period for 2019 municipal elections has ended. Eighteen people have filed to run for local offices. Two are running for Mayor of Franklin, Eight (two of them incumbents) are running for three four-year seats on the Franklin Town Council.
The only unopposed candidate is Dinah Mashburn, who is running for two years to complete a four-year term her late husband won in 2017.
Seven (three of them incumbents) are running for three seats on the Highlands Board of Commissioners.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. A trough of low pressure moving through the Central Bahamas is producing a small area of showers and thunderstorms mainly along and to the east of the trough axis. Environmental conditions are expected to be only marginally conducive for development during the next couple of days while the trough moves west-northwestward at around 15 mph. Additional development is not anticipated after that time due to strong upper-level winds.
