Franklin Town Council Closes Gazebo Due to Pandemic Restrictions

At the September 2020 meeting of the Franklin Town Council, Councilman voted 5-1 (David Culpepper voting against) to close the town gazebo to events except for town use, until further notice. This most likely means the gazebo will be closed until masking and social distancing are no longer required or the Governor lifts the current state of emergency, or the board feels it is safe enough.

The Franklin Press and Macon Media were the only two media outlets present at the meeting.

In order to present complete and unbiased information about the discussion, two videos are embedded below that were part of Macon Media's live video of the meeting. The first video contains the discussion and vote and the second video contains the enforcement discussion. The board consensus was that enforcement would be left to the discretion of officers present at events at the gazebo. The police chief was of the opinion that no violence would be necessary to enforce the limit of 50 people, masks, and social distancing.
