OUTLOOK

The ridge of high pressure near the the northeastern CONUS will gradually retreat tracking northeastward into Thursday while a strong cold front approaches from the west. This cold front is forecast to track through the region late Thursday into early Friday and could lead to isolated strong to severe thunderstorm development. A second cold front is expected to track into the area this weekend keeping shower and thunderstorm chances around. Early next week high pressure moves in leading to drier conditions.

HAZARDS

Hazardous weather is not expected today.

An area of showers and scattered thunderstorms will move into the area early Friday in advance of a cold front. While the greatest threat for severe weather is expected to remain southwest of our area, a few of these storms could still produce severe weather in the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia, mainly west of U.S. Highway 25. Damaging winds would be the primary severe weather threat.

Air quality is in the upper range of green for most of the county, with the ridges and other higher elevations today also being in the upper range of green.

Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be in the high range (9.8 out of 12) today with Maple, Juniper, and Oak being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be lower, in the medium-high range (7.7 out of 12).
