A vigorous cold front is expected to move through the area tonight, and could produce isolated strong to severe convection along with significant rainfall. The active pattern continues this weekend as a new cold front slides through the area Sunday with another round of rain.

HAZARDS

Showers and thunderstorms will move into the area from west to east this afternoon through Friday morning. Areas in far Western North Carolina and parts of Northeast Georgia will see some storms Thursday afternoon and evening, with storms initiating or entering other areas early Friday morning. Strength of storms will be in decline by daybreak on Friday. Some of these storms may reach severe limits with the primary threat of strong straight- line winds.

Air quality is in the upper range of green for most of the county, with the ridges and other higher elevations today also being in the upper range of green.

Pollen levels are expected to be in the medium-high range (7.3out of 12) today with Maple, Juniper, and Oak being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be lower, in the medium range (6.5 out of 12).
