Weather Briefing for Friday, March 26, 2021
Recap of March 25th Severe Weather Event

Animated loop of the severe weather from early yesterday morning until early this morning. The green, yellow and red flashes indicate lightning detected from a GOES Weather Satellite in geosynchronous orbit.

OUTLOOK

A cold front slowly passes through the area today, but stalls out just south of the region tonight. This will allow an active pattern to continue this weekend as the front lifts back north on Saturday, then another cold front slides through the area on Sunday. Cool and dry high pressure returns early next week.

Yesterday, March 25th, was a busy day for severe weather and public safety personnel. Severe weather that started in the Deep South arrived in Macon County in the late morning and lasted for several hours as several waves of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms moved through the county, including a rather intense lightning storm. Macon Media covered the events on Facebook, Twitter, and Mewe. Links to some of the Facebook posts are below.

The overnight severe weather did not materialize for most of Macon County outside some heavy rain, high winds, occasional lightning, and small hail.
