Who Needs Oil or Ethanol When You Can Grow Algae?

...PetroSun BioFuels Refining has entered into a joint venture to construct and operate a biodiesel refinery near Coolidge, Arizona. The feedstock for the refinery will be algal oil produced by PetroSun BioFuels at company owned and operated algae farms to be located in Arizona....The refinery will have an annual production capacity of thirty million gallons and will produce 100% renewable biodiesel. PetroSun BioFuels will process the residual algae biomass into ethanol....Petrosun claims that Independent studies have demonstrated that algae is capable of producing in excess of 30 times more oil per acre than corn and soybean crops.

The Free Market will find a way to solve our problems, if only the givernment will get out of the way...

Let's make sure that innovators like this get all that money we're giving to big coal and big oil.

It's only the free market if you give the little guy a chance.

If America wants to get off the oil merry-go-round, we have to have alternatives. We're spending taxpayer dollars propping up the very industries that others are competing against. It's Big Oil and the United States of America against groups like PetroSun. I say let's get Uncle Sam on the side of the little guy who's trying to solve our problems.

It is government involvement that makes fuel costs so very high!

The next time you pump fual at your nearest gas station, read the tax info on the pump to see how much money the government is stealing from you, and stealing from the petroleum industry. They steal more than three times what little profit the Oil company makes from a gallon of fuel!

I can produce an alcohol-based fuel that will cost less than a dollar a gallon tp produce...but the government regulations and taxes would raise the price of my product to well over $2 a gallon. Now, who is the bad guy in that situation?

I can guarantee you that the government would destroy that industry's chance to make a profit worth having...

Uncle Sam should be on no one's side. Uncle Sam should not be involved in business in any shape, manner, or form. That is for the states. Uncle Sam should only referee between the States!

"Government is the problem, not the solution!" --Ronald Reagan

We have some of the lowest fuel taxes of any industrialized nation. Your argument is a non-starter.

And they need to be lower...or completely done away with.

I would prefer an across the board sales tax to replace all other taxes.

Taxing consumption, without regard to industry, is much better than taxing income, or having "special taxes" that discriminate against certain industries.

Lefties love the use of taxation as a social-engineering tool. Sadly, their are plenty of RINOs who are starting to love that type of "centralized government planning" as well.

I'm no economist, but it seems to me that with a consumption driven economy a tax on consumption might drive spending way down.

In the long run it might really help us pull out of the materialistic consumer culture, but it's not going to help the job market a bit.

It would attract much of the money that has fled our shores, and the FairTax is a single-rate, federal retail sales tax collected only once, at the final point of purchase of new goods and services for personal consumption. Used items are not taxed. Business-to-business purchases for the production of goods and services are not taxed. It replaces federal income taxes including personal, estate, gift, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes.

The economy would expand beyond our dreams, and other nations would be forced to enact a similar system, or see their investment dollars flee.

My personal nest egg, along with others, would return to the country, and it would return to the market.

If Schmuckerbie wasn't a socialist liberal, his support for the FairTax would draw my support.

Oh TP,

Huckabee is hardly a liberal. Your saying so indicates how far to the right you've gone.
