Special Weather Statement
National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC
954 PM EST Tue Jan 12 2021

...PATCHY DENSE AND FREEZING FOG MAY DEVELOP BY WEDNESDAY MORNING...

Good radiational cooling conditions overnight will likely support at least patchy fog development focused across sheltered mountain valleys. Fog may be locally dense with visibility down to a quarter or less. With temperatures in the mid to upper 20s, freezing fog is expected, and any remaining wet spots on roads will freeze. This may cause icy patches on roads that could make driving hazardous in some locations. Dry air working in from aloft may support quick dissipation of fog shortly after sunrise Wednesday.

If traveling, use caution, especially on bridges, overpasses, and elevated highways where water freezes first. Do not assume that a well traveled road will be free of ice.
