DC Metro Police Escorted SEIU Terrorists to Bank Of America Executive’s Home

The family of Greg Baer, Bank of America executive, is located in a jurisdiction protected by the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), which responded promptly to a disturbance call from his neighborhood last weekend. 

According to Corporal Dan Friz, an MCPD spokesperson in Rockville, Maryland, the department received a disturbance call from one of Baer’s neighbors at 4:10 pm last Sunday. Four MCPD units arrived at Baer’s Greenville Rd. address at 4:15 pm. At least two Metropolitan Police Department units from the nearby District of Columbia were already at the scene when they arrived.

Why? Because police cars attached to the Washington MPD’s Civil Disturbance Unit had escorted the SEIU protesters’ buses to Baer’s home. Such cross-jurisdictional escort activity is not uncommon for both departments according to Friz and Metro Police Department spokesperson Officer Eric Frost. Still, the District police did not inform their colleagues of what was about to happen in one of their Maryland neighborhoods.

Commentary

I wonder how this story would have played out had it been a Tea Party planning to protest at the home of a Lefty Movie Star, Politician, or leader of a Lefty Non-Profit Group? Or perhaps the homes of SEIU leaders or donors?

The answer is that Tea Parties don't do this because it is an immoral violation of what America stands for. Ask yourself what you would do or how you would feel if 500 or so people decamped onto your property to protest where you worked, or actions you had taken at work that they disagreed with. This is nothing more than political terrorism meant to intimidate political opponents.

If this doesn't fit the very definition of terrorism, then there is no such thing.

Congressman Tom McClintock Responds to President Calerone of Mexico Video and Transcript of Remarks

M. Speaker:


I rise to take strong exception to the speech of the President of Mexico while in this chamber today.


The Mexican government has made it very clear for many years that it holds American sovereignty in contempt and President Calderons behavior as a guest of the Congress confirms and underscores this attitude.


It is highly inappropriate for the President of Mexico to lecture Americans on American immigration policy, just as it would be for Americans to lecture Mexico on its laws.








It is obvious that President Calderon does not understand the nature of America or the purpose of our immigration law.


Unlike Mexicos immigration law -- which is brutally exclusionary -- the purpose of Americas law is not to keep people out. It is to assure that as people come to the United States, they do so with the intention of becoming Americans and of raising their children as Americans.


Unlike Mexico, our nation embraces immigration and what makes that possible is assimilation.


A century ago President Teddy Roosevelt put it this way. He said:


"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."


That is how we have built one great nation from the people of all the nations of the world.


The largest group of immigrants now comes from Mexico. A recent RAND discovered that during most of the 20th Century, while our immigration laws were actually enforced, assimilation worked and made possible the swift attainment of the American dream for millions of immigrants seeking to escape conditions in Mexico.


That is the broader meaning of our nations motto, e pluribus unum from many people, one people, the American people.


But there is now an element in our political structure that seeks to undermine that concept of E Pluribus Unum. It seeks to hyphenate Americans, to develop linguistic divisions, to assign rights and preferences based on race and ethnicity, and to elevate devotion to foreign ideologies and traditions, while at the same time denigrating American culture, American values and American founding principles.


In order to do so, they know that they have to stop the process of assimilation. In order to do that, they must undermine our immigration laws.


It is an outrage that a foreign head of state would appear in this chamber and actively seek to do so. And it is a disgrace that he would be cheered on from the left wing of the White House and by many Democrats in this Congress.


Arizona has not adopted a new immigration law. All it has done is to enforce existing law that President Obama refuses to enforce. It is hardly a radical policy to suggest that if an officer on a routine traffic stop encounters a driver with no drivers license, no passport, and who doesnt speak English, that maybe that individual might be here illegally.


And to those who say we must reform our immigration laws I reply that we dont need to reform them we need to enforce them. Just as every other government does. Just as Mexico does.


Above all, this is a debate of, by and for the American people. If President Calderon wishes to participate in that debate, I invite him to obey our immigration laws, apply for citizenship, do what 600,000 LEGAL immigrants to our nation are doing right now, learn our history and our customs, and become an American. And then he will have every right to participate in that debate.


Until then, I would politely invite him to have the courtesy while a guest of this Congress to abide by the fundamental rules of diplomacy between civilized nations not to meddle in each others domestic debates.

Pavement Repair at Holly Springs Plaza Ingles

Long overdue repair work is now underway at the Ingles Supermarket located in the Holly Springs Plaza in Franklin. I happened to be in the right place at the right time as crews began their work and snapped a few photos as they began their repairs to the pavement that had been severely damaged during this past winter. It had cracked, split and collapsed in a few places in front of the store.

2010 US Senate Primary Races: Rand Paul and Jack Conway Win in Kentucky

Here are the results of the primaries (119 of 120 counties reporting) in Kentucky where 11 candidates (6 Republicans and 5 Democrats) in two parties are competing to see who will face each other to replace the retiring Jim Bunting in the fall. The top Republican, Rand Paul, will be facing the top Democrat, Jack Conway in November. 


The turnout is Kentucky was 32.65%, with 40.34% casting ballots for Republicans and 59.66% casting ballots for Democrats in the US Senate race.

This just in from Five Thirty Eight:

Because of Paul's impressive 24-point margin of victory, almost any explanation you might proffer probably contains some element of truth. But for all his libertarian and tea-party dressing, Paul in fact ran on a fairly conventional, conservative platform. He's pro-life, anti-gay marriage, anti-immigration ... there are only the faintest hints of libertarianism here. This was probably a good thing for him because Kentucky, which has traditionally been socially conservative but economically moderate, is pretty much kitty-corner to the libertarian side of the political quadrant. This was actually very clever, in a lot of ways -- Paul's last name (and decision to affiliate himself with the tea party) gained him national attention and fundraising and earned media, but to people in Kentucky, he ought to have been a very comfortable choice who was somewhat more fresh-faced than his rival. The branded product beat the generic one.

Paul might have some trouble in general election, especially after somewhat underwhelming turnout in the primary (Democratic turnout was actually 60 percent higher, although Democrats enjoy a substantial registration advantage in Kentucky). But that's more because of his inexperience and standoffishness and less because of his platform.

I found this on a conservative blog in Kentucky that shows the tactics being used by libertarians like Rand Paul to infiltrate the Republican Party. Rand made it through based on his daddy's donor list and name recognition. Thank God that other libertarians are finding a harder time of it in other races.
