News and Weather Briefing for Monday, February 19, 2024

Here is the news and weather briefing for Macon County.

GENERAL OUTLOOK

Weak high pressure lingers through the middle of the week along with a warming trend. Low pressure approaches Thursday night and brings a round of precipitation to the area. Dry weather returns for the weekend.

INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY (02-19-2024)

Very dry air in place across the region will permit afternoon relative humidity values to fall to between 20 and 25 percent for several hours across the region again today. Although winds will be fairly light from the southwest, drying fuels and brush will combine with the dry air to increase fire danger this afternoon.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
