HENDERSONVILLE, NC: Conservative leader, former Republican presidential candidate, and former United States Senator Rick Santorum recently endorsed Wayne King in the congressional race to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows to represent North Carolina's 11th District.

In a tweet, Santorum said, "Mark Meadows is a great conservative leader. Wayne is cut out of the same cloth." The tweet linked to a Breitbart story about King's run headlined "Wayne King: I Will Fight for the 'Forgotten American Man and Woman” which may be viewed at [LINK].

"I am honored to have the endorsement of a true conservative leader like Rick Santorum," King said. "Rick knows that, as Congressman Meadow's top staffer in the district, I've spent every day for the past seven years fighting for the people of Western North Carolina and our mountain values. I will continue to work hard to make sure my fellow Western North Carolinians have a voice and are fairly represented in Washington."

Meadows is retiring after eight years representing the area.

King is a Western North Carolina native and spent the past seven years as Meadows' district director and deputy chief of staff.
