The time of restoration varies from late this afternoon to as late as 7pm in some locations.

6:57pm Otto firefighters report finding the tree and powerlines at Newman Road, but could not find a vehicle. EOC advises the person left the scene.

7:03pm Haywood EMC is reporting 7 of their 2,332 customers in Macon County is out of service.

7:06pm Burningtown Command reports they are also responding to trees down on Bennett Road. (sp?)

7:07pm Another line of storms will be moving through the county starting in about 15 to 20 minutes. It will not be as severe as the first one. It will be mostly heavy rain.

7:08pm Outage Update Duke Energy reports 73 known outages in Macon County with 1,581 customers without service.

7:12pm Haywood EMC reports 8 of their Macon County customers are without service.

7:12pm Gunshot Wound Franklin EMS/Franklin VFD 

• Report of gunshot wound (GSW) at a residence on Pannell Lane. Personnel staged nearby while MCSO cleared the scene. (No victim would be found at the scene)

7:14pm MCSO has requested Frankllin Police patrol the area near the gunshot call

7:15pm Franklin VFD responding North Shore Drive. Tree and powerlines down and on fire.

7:17pm MCSO arrived at gunshot call on Pannell Lane

7:28 p.m. update on the panel Road gunshot call. Deputies have been unable to locate a victim so far.

7:33 p.m. Clarks Chapel firefighters report they have cleared trees and debris from the roadway on Middle Skeenah Road.

7:45pm outage update

• Duke Energy reports 82 outage locations in Macon County and 1.645 without service.

• Duke Energy reports 356 outage locations in the Carolinas and 11,237 without service.


• Haywood EMC reports 7 of their customers in Macon County are without service and 1,564 of their other customers in the region are without service at this time.

7:50pm Hazardous Condition Burningtown-Iotla VFD

• Power lines down in woods behind Olive Hill Gospel Church. Firefighters reported about 40 yeards of line was on fire and arcing. 

8:04pm Burningtown firefighters report the powerline near the Olive Hill Gospel Church is down and on about 40 yards length of line is arcing and on fire in the woods. They're going to leave a few members to watch it to make sure no one approaches it or a fire spreads.

8:21pm outage update

• Duke Energy reports 87 outage locations in Macon County and 2,091 without service.

• Duke Energy reports 413 outage locations in the Carolinas and 21,212 without service.


• Haywood EMC reports 7 of their customers in Macon County are without service and 1,563 of their other customers in the region are without service at this time.

8:26pm the bands of heavy rain are almost out of the county.
