NC Utilities Commission Holds Public HEaring in Franklin
About three dozen people showed up for the public hearing held by the North Carolina Utilities Commission on a request by Duke Energy for a rate hike. Of the 11 who spoke, one was Lisa Leatherman, the district manager of Duke Energy, five were from Franklin and five were from as far west as Hayesville and as far east as Asheville and Arden. All, save the district manager, spoke against the rate increase. Macon Media, The Franklin Press (a reporter and a photographer), and WFSC-AM/WNCC-FM had reporters covering the hearing. Macon Media anticipates publishing video of the public hearing later today or tomorrow.
