Special Section: FTX Crptocurrency Exchange Collapse
Background
FTX, once valued at $32 billion, collapsed in a matter of days after the CEO of Binance, a rival firm, said his exchange would liquidate its FTT tokens. FTT, the native token of FTX, plunged as a result, leading to a liquidity crunch at FTX. FTX’s disgraced founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, stepped down as CEO in November as the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Senate Agriculture Committee held a hearing yesterday with a top financial regulator focused on how the federal government can get a clearer view into the cryptocurrency industry and prevent future incidents like the FTX blowup. The hearing also comes amid a deepening crisis of confidence within the crypto industry unleashed by the demise of FTX. This section includes vidceo and documentation of the eharing and a curated list of videos that tell the story of what happened with FTX. As with any news story, inclusion is not an endorsement of views expressed, it is included to allow the reader to have access to more than one viewpoint so they can make an informed opinion about what has happened and what is happening.
