Surface high pressure will build into the region from the west today. Dry conditions and a warming trend are expected most of the rest of the week. A low pressure system approaching from the west on Friday will increase rain chances through Saturday. Dry conditions return on New Years Day and last through Monday.

...BLACK ICE POSSIBLE THIS MORNING ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS AND PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA...

With light snow accumulations overnight and below freezing temperatures lasting through mid-morning, black ice formation is possible across the southwest North Carolina mountains as well as Rabun and Habersham Counties in northeast Georgia. With sunny skies and temperatures warming above freezing after 10 AM, any black ice that forms should melt. Use caution if traveling this morning, especially on bridges.
