GENERAL OUTLOOK

Rain chances will continue today ahead of an approaching cold front. A brief dry spell is expected over the beginning of the weekend with near seasonal temperatures returning to the area. A secondary wave sweeps through our area Saturday night with a quick chance of rain again before conditions dry out for the start of the new work week. A much stronger cold front approaches our region in the middle of next week.

Hazards and Tropical Weather

Areas of fog have developed across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia overnight and are expected to linger through much of this morning. Several locations will see the visibility dip to one-quarter mile or less at times in patchy dense fog. The visibility may vary greatly over short distances.

Use extra caution if traveling in the region. Allow extra travel time and stopping distance between vehicles. Use your low-beam headlights and fog lamps. Be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.

2016 – President Park Geun-hye of South Korea is impeached by the country's National Assembly in response to a major political scandal.

2016 – At least 57 people are killed and a further 177 injured when two schoolgirl suicide bombers attack a market area in Madagali, Northeastern Nigeria in the Madagali suicide bombings.

2017 – The Marriage Amendment Bill receives royal assent and comes into effect, making Australia the 26th country to legalize same-sex marriage.

2019 – A volcano on White Island, New Zealand, kills 22 people after it erupts.
